{"id":3969,"date":"2025-08-09T13:26:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T18:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/?p=3969"},"modified":"2025-08-09T15:06:39","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T20:06:39","slug":"collaboration-center-in-cleveland-part-of-neighborhood-revitalization-effort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/collaboration-center-in-cleveland-part-of-neighborhood-revitalization-effort\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Collaboration\u2019 Center in Cleveland part of neighborhood revitalization effort"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Faith Brown and Amariyah Mallory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NABJ JSHOP Reporters<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Midtown Collaboration Center in Cleveland aims to bring people of color and companies together in a place where they can enjoy music and have new job opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 98,000-square-foot project opened earlier this year in the city\u2019s Hough neighborhood and has space for the public to use, as well as businesses and nonprofit organizations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the businesses are Black-owned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve seen the revitalization or renaissance of Cleveland that other cities don\u2019t necessarily have,\u201d said Chris Nierstheimer, project manager for The Cleveland Foundation, which led the effort to build and open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"763\" src=\"http:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM-1024x763.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM-1024x763.png 1024w, https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM-768x572.png 768w, https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM-1536x1145.png 1536w, https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM-80x60.png 80w, https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-09-at-1.46.08-PM.png 1940w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nierstheimer said the building has 10 tenants and four subtenants \u2013 including University Hospitals Diabetes Center, JumpStart Inc., which supports entrepreneurs, and Black Frog Brewery \u2013 and created 41 new jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building on East 66th Street and Euclid Avenue is to be thought of as a \u201cthird space,\u201d not a workspace or a home, but a more fluid place where guests can work and collaborate. It has already had a steady stream of visitor traffic, Nierstheimer said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The foundation partners and tenants have created specific programs geared toward youth. For example, Hyland Software offers coding and software programs to youth in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Midtown Collaboration Center Interview\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U4rXFFIqcGE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Other tenants, such as Pearl\u2019s Kitchen and the Sixty6 Jazz lounge, provide space for the community to have a meal and enjoy live music.
