{"id":3617,"date":"2024-08-02T21:19:12","date_gmt":"2024-08-03T02:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2024\/?p=3617"},"modified":"2024-08-06T19:31:26","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T00:31:26","slug":"jshop-students-share-their-thoughts-on-trumps-tumultuous-nabj-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabjmonitor.com\/2024\/jshop-students-share-their-thoughts-on-trumps-tumultuous-nabj-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"JSHOP students share their thoughts on Trump\u2019s tumultuous NABJ visit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Jermale Dabney and Khai Phinney<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NABJ JSHOP Reporters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was already a weird vibe about former President and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday attending a panel discussion during the National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conversation, which was supposed to be an hour long, was contentious from the beginning and remained throughout the 30-minute chat that left many attendees mad, sad, angry and confused. Afterward, we asked students from NABJ\u2019s JSHOP, the association\u2019s high school journalism workshop for their take on Trump\u2019s appearance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Trump Panel News Package by Jada Strong and Ryann Dawson (JSHOP)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OBVS98CkfCc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou would think that he would appear with some sort of decorum,\u201d said JSHOP student Jada Strong about Trump. \u201cBut he comes and starts insulting NABJ, the members, and our organization as a whole. So I just think people need to realize that that is who you\u2019re voting for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JSHOP student Ryann Dawson<strong> <\/strong>said she expected Trump to be rude, but not that temperamental.
