This year, NABJ convention-goers have several options for eating near the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. Here are a dozen restaurant options, both close and not too far.
Less than a 10-minute walk
1. Uptown Cantina

Price Range: $11-$30
A five-minute walk from the convention, Uptown Cantina features Mexican and Fresh-Mex offerings, with a few choices for those who don’t like Mexican food, such as burgers. The menu offers nachos, tacos, salads and more, complemented by handmade cocktails. https://uptown-cantina.com/.
2. Texas de Brazil

Price Range: $31-$50

3. Mugshots Grill & Bar

Mugshots Grill & Bar is a two-minute walk. The bar experience sports a theme of “Havin’ a Good Time!” and happy hour, from 3 to 6 p.m., has half-price domestic drafts, well drinks and wine. 4. Southern Kitchen + Bar

Southern Kitchen + Bar, also called The Southern Birmingham, is one of the city’s premier bar and restaurants and a three-minute walk from the conference. 5. Todd English P.U.B.

6. Santos Coffee

Price Range: $3-$32

7. Eugene’s Hot Chicken

Price Range: $11-$30

8. K & J’s Elegant Pastries

9. Gus’s Hot Dogs

12. Fife’s Restaurant

Price Range: Under $10
